Launch of the Eurosite – ELCN Working Group on Nature Finance and Land Stewardship
In November 2025, Eurosite – the European Land Conservation Network launched a new working group aimed at fostering the contribution of private subjects to nature conservation and nature finance. The group will focus on strengthening policy and practice for private land conservation initiatives as well as scalable, sustainable finance mechanisms that mobilize private investment. Angelo Salsi, former head of the EU LIFE Programme and current ILCN Steering Committee member, and David Álvarez García, CEO of ECOACSA Reserva de Biodiversidad will serve as co-chairs.
The first WG meeting will be held on 25th November with core strategy group getting together to agree on a scope and functions of the Working Group. The intention is that after the initial stages, the WG will be open to any interested organizations in Europe that are working on conservation finance and land conservation.
