Workshop on Cross-Boundary Collaboration

The International Land Conservation Network (ILCN) will be at the Land Trust Alliance’s Rally in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

On Thursday, October 27th , the ILCN will host a daylong session at the Minneapolis Central Library focused on cross-border collaboration for private land conservation. Featuring case studies from Mexico, Canada, the European Union, the United States and others, we will explore successful models of cross-border conservation collaboration, planning, and fundraising. Presenters will share lessons learned and discuss how their successes may be replicated in other localities. There will also be time to network with other international participants and to discuss how the ILCN may best serve this community. Attendees are also invited to join us for a welcome reception the evening before. See our save the date for more information.

The gathering at Rally will build on the success of ILCN’s First Congress in Berlin, Germany in October 2015. Conference field trips and formal workshops were packed with opportunities to learn from innovative land conservation practitioners and to share ideas on strategies going forward. In particular, we observed at least three kinds of activities catalyzed by the Berlin meeting, as evidenced by feedback we received from participants following the adjournment of the Congress:

o Helping to frame constructive policy dialogues relating to private land conservation.
o Facilitating international exchanges and initiatives, and sharing best practices.
o Catalyzing the growth and connectedness of the Network, and raising awareness about privately protected land.

We intend that this workshop will continue to strengthen the international community of practice in the ways outlined above.

*There is no registration charge or attendance fee for the workshop itself; however, you will be responsible for your own travel and lodging costs, and any subsistence or incidental costs that you may incur.

After the workshop, we hope that international participants will take advantage of the Land Trust Alliance Rally’s extraordinary offerings – more than 130 educations sessions focused on land conservation topics, networking events, and field trips. Please note that attendance at Rally is separate from the ILCN meeting and will involve a registration charge (ILCN international participants are eligible for a discounted rate; instructions for registration will be provided upon registration for the ILCN workshop).

We invite you to attend the ILCN workshop, but space is limited. If you plan on attending, please register here so that we can hold a spot for you. More information and instructions for registering for Rally at a reduced rate will be provided upon your RSVP. If you have any questions, please contact Emily Myron at emyron@lincolninst.edu.
