Registrations are open for a five-day Open Standards / Healthy Country Planning workshop in the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area*. Using a well-proven adult learning approach, this intensive live-in course will give people a good understanding of how these tools can be directly used in their own work.

The course is delivered under the Protected Areas Learning and Research Collaboration jointly by the Blue Mountains World Heritage Institute and Conservation Management.

The course will introduce the concepts, steps and structures of the Open Standards for the Practice of Conservation by using the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area – a fascinating protected area management challenge with multiple interacting threats
and opportunities as a case study to directly demonstrate its application. Students will work in small teams to pursue specific threads through the entire adaptive planning and management loop and learn how to integrate these threads into a powerful, ongoing, planning and management framework.

The knowledge gained is readily implemented and applicable for use in a diverse range of protected areas, including those managed by governments, non-government organisations, private landholders and Indigenous communities. The approach is also applicable to conservation projects and property planning and management at any scale. It is increasingly used by government and non- government
agencies across diverse jurisdictions and geographies.

The course costs $2,200 (inc GST) including all food, accommodation, transport and materials. Limited scholarships are avaiable for PALRC courses.
