February 20 – 21, 2025
As urbanization accelerates worldwide, high population densities in cities impact the environment through natural habitat loss, pollution, and climate warming. These factors collectively threaten biodiversity, reduce ecosystem services, and challenge urban sustainability, health, and well-being. Addressing biodiversity loss, climate change, and increasing disease burdens in cities is now a crucial focus in urban ecology.
These concerns are the focus of this event, convened by the Biodiversity Committee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and multiple Asian universities and research institutions. The symposium brings together experts from across Asia to discuss environmental challenges faced by urban ecosystems and propose actionable solutions.
