Virtual Registration is now Open

Join the ILCN online for our 2024 Global Congress, cohosted by the Nature Conservancy of Canada, from October 16-18. The Congress, which is taking place in Quebec, Canada, will be partially broadcast online.

Broadcast sessions will cover key topics in conservation finance; conservation law and policy; land stewardship and management; organization and governance; and large landscape conservation. View the short schedule and full agenda on the Congress website here.

Sessions will be available in English and French for virtual participants around the globe.

It is the first EU-wide legislation to bind nations to biodiversity restoration goals and, with no precedent to guide it, has stirred up significant controversy, especially among the agricultural sector. 2024 Global Congress of the International Land Conservation Network

We are pleased to invite you to join our virtual live stream of the ILCN Global Congress, facilitated in partnership with The Nature Conservancy of Canada, this October. The congress will convene experts and practitioners advancing a whole-of-society approach toward realizing 30x30 around the theme of "Relationships for a Resilient Future". Together, we will build the capacity and coherence of private and civic academic, Indigenous, and other-essential sectors engaged in land conservation on six continents. It will also celebrate the monumental accomplishments of colleagues from our host-region of Quebec, Canada, where exemplary achievements have been reached in conserving land and water resources.

The Global Nature Positive Summit 2024
 
Co-hosted by the Australian-federal and New-South-Wales state governments, the Global Nature Positive Summit will accelerate collective action to drive investment in nature and strengthen activities to protect and repair the environment.

It will bring together leaders from government, corporate sectors, research and environmental organizations and Indigenous Peoples.

At the Summit, leaders will explore effective ways to realize global commitments under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. The event will build understanding of changes required to systems and settings to value nature and address biodiversity loss.

ALCA Private Land Conservation Conference 2024 (PLC24)
 
The Australian Land Conservation Alliance's (ALCA) annual conference is a vital platform for exploring barriers and opportunities to accelerate and expand nature action and finance. This year's theme is Nature Now: Action for People and Planet and is an opportunity to reflect, network, showcase, collaborate, and advance solutions that enable people and communities to protect, manage, and restore nature on privately managed land, at scale. 

PLC24 will be delivered as a two-day program of workshops, plenaries and concurrent sessions with an exciting line-up of Australian and international speakers. It will run adjacent to the first Global Nature Positive Summit.

16th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP16)
 
COP16 will be the first biodiversity COP since the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework was widely adopted in December 2022 in Montreal, Canada. This year's meeting will ask governments to turn to the task of reviewing the framework and for parties to show how they are aligning with it through the development of National Biodiversity Strategies and Acton Plans. It will also serve as a platform to further develop the monitoring framework and advance resource mobilization.

The ILCN is looking for submissions of artistic work with a connection to land and land protection to feature on our website and in upcoming newsletters. We are open to poetry, short stories, personal essays, visual art, music, and more. Submissions can be sent to Lily Robinson at lrobinson@lincolninst.edu. Please include a short description of the relationship your piece shares with land, nature, or the environment.
